How to identify the values that matter and what to do next.
I just read a strong, well written, thoughtful and helpful article on how to actually uncover your values, identify what makes them important and then what to do, so you actually use this information to make work, work for you.
I often talk about values with clients and we agree that values are important. Brillant right, well, that’s what business coaches do.
But it’s harder to zero in on which values should be on your list and which can be left off? It’s harder still to then take that information and bring that into our work life, into choosing which tasks to embrace and which to let go.
Heather Chavin, the author of Not Excited to Be at Work, offers exercises to walk you through every step of this process. She took this on because …..this values exercise didn’t go far enough. So I developed a way to take it further… with the end result of changing my situation so that cleaning my closets was no longer more attractive….
Take a few minutes to read the full article. Heather has provided an excellent structure to support your exploration.
