Once Upon a Time...
“Emma Coats, a former storyboard artist at Pixar, outlined the basic structure of a fairy tale as a kind of Mad Lib that you can fill in with your own elements:
Once upon a time, there was ____________.
Every day, _____________. One day, ____________.
Because of that, _________. Because of that __________.
Until finally, ____________.”
From the book, Show Your Work, by Austin Kleon
How would you complete this Mad Lib if you were writing the story of your search for the perfect job? If you’re lucky, have courage and are clear about what you want, then maybe this could be your story:
Once upon a time, there was a hard working woman. Every day, she dragged herself to work. One day, she decided to talk to her boss and tell him she wanted more challenges. Because of that, she was offered a new assignment. Because of that, she felt engaged. Until finally, she found herself skipping to work, happy it was Monday.
Pretty simple. She decided to do something and her story changed.
What do you need to decide to do?
I can help you figure that out—and together we can change your story.
