What to do if you think your job is at risk

The end is near.jpg

I know you don’t even want to think about this, but your stomach is telling you to pay attention. Some of my clients come to me because they are worried that their job is ending and it’s never a fun place to start. But it does get one focused and ready to take action.

This HBR article by Susan Peppercorn outlines four very important steps:

  1. Work on Your Network

  2. Seek Advice

  3. Check on your financial wellness

  4. Update your Branding

Updating your Branding takes time, soul searching and self-awareness. What are your skills and talents? What do you want to do next? How will you convey that on Linkedin, in your resume and your cover letters? Once you’re clear on what you want, use networking to spread your brand message. That sounds simple, but it’s not usually easy. Who do you connect to? What do you say? How can I get comfortable reaching out?

My clients work through these and many other questions during our sessions. Please take Susan’s advice and reach out for additional help if your stomach is telling you to pay attention.
